These interactive dashboards give you a graphic view of health economics information comparing Alberta to other provinces, territories and countries. Multi-year interprovincial comparisons include:
  • Provincial government health spending
  • Key economic indicators compared to provincial government health spending
  • Health sector expenditures, such as: hospitals, drugs, physicians, etc.
  • Fee-for-service physician payments and services, and
  • Distribution of population by age and gender

View the provincial government health spending comparisons dashboard, which includes:

  • Provincial government health spending comparisons for all provinces and Canada from 1975 to 2017 (in per capita $, in per capita constant $, total actual $, total constant $, and age-gender adjusted per capita $).
  • Average annual growth rates for selected indicators.

Interprovincial economic indicator comparisons

View the interprovincial economic indicator comparisons dashboard, which includes:

  • Provincial government health spending as proportion of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and as the proportion of total government expenditure for all provinces and Canada from 1975 to 2017.
  • Average annual growth rates for key economic indicators for all provinces (Consumer Price Index, population, and average weekly earnings).

View the interprovincial health sector comparisons dashboard, which includes

  • Interprovincial provincial government health sector expenditure comparisons for all provinces and Canada from 1975 to 2017 with their respective percentage shares, such as: hospitals, drugs, physicians, etc.

Physician payment and service comparisons

View the physician payments and services comparisons dashboard, which includes:

  • Physician average gross fee-for service (FFS) payment per full time employee by physician type for all provinces and Canada for the 2005/06 and 2015/16 years.
  • Annual growth in volume of FFS physician services compared to population growth in Alberta from 2000 to 2015.
