Honourable Dave Rodney,
Associate Minister of Wellness
Dave Rodney was elected to his third term as Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary-Lougheed on April 23, 2012, and appointed Associate Minister of Wellness on May 8, 2012. He has served as Parliamentary Assistant for Health and Wellness and a member of the Provincial Treasury Board, and his committee work has included Alberta Energy Representative: Council of State Governments – USA West and USA Midwest; Cabinet Policy on Public Health and Safety; Standing Committee on Public Health and Safety; Treasury Board, Public Accounts and many more.
Associate Minister Rodney was the first Canadian to have reached the summit of Mount Everest twice. He has experience as an international keynote speaker, workshop facilitator and world-wide adventure guide. He spent 13 years as an educator and administrator in Canada, Nepal and the West Indies.
Associate Minister Rodney lives with his wife, Jennifer, their two sons and their dog, MacGyver.
Honourable George VanderBurg,
Associate Minister of Seniors
George VanderBurg was elected to his fourth term as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for Whitecourt-Ste. Anne on April 23, 2012, and appointed Associate Minister of Seniors on May 8, 2012. Since 2006, he has served as Minister of Government Services, Acting Minister of Innovation and Science, and Minister of Seniors and Community Supports.
Prior to becoming the MLA for Whitecourt-Ste. Anne in 2001, Associate Minister VanderBurg served 15 years in municipal politics. He served as the mayor of Whitecourt for almost nine years and spent six as a town councillor.
Over the years, Associate Minister VanderBurg was an active Rotarian, and he and his wife, Liz, were successful owners and operators of various businesses in northern Alberta. He was president of the Whitecourt Chamber of Commerce and was the recipient of the Chamber of Commerce president’s award. Associate Minister VanderBurg has also been named Whitecourt’s citizen of the year and been awarded the Alberta Chamber of Commerce small business of the year award.
Associate Minister VanderBurg and his wife have been married for 35 years, have two sons, Kris (Amanda) and Jake (Crystal) and live in Whitecourt.
